The regional RRBs released zone-wise, category-wise cut off marks with the CBT result on 1 July 2026, the PET began on 25 July 2026, and RRCs are now issuing document verification lists. The next cycle, CEN 09/2025 (22,195 posts), finished its CBT between 3 and 25 August 2026; its answer key came out on 7 September 2026 and its result and cut off are still awaited.

The cut off is the normalised score of the last candidate shortlisted for PET in each RRB and category. It is not a fixed pass mark, so it changes with vacancies, competition and paper difficulty every cycle.

What the zone-wise numbers tell you

Kolkata (80.23), Ajmer (79.70) and Patna (78.45) had the highest UR cut offs, while Bengaluru (70.29), Ahmedabad (72.16) and Chandigarh (72.21) were the lowest. The gap of about 10 marks between RRBs is far larger than the gap between UR and OBC within most RRBs, so your RRB choice matters as much as your category.

RRB Group D Previous Year Cut Off (CEN RRC 01/2019)

CEN RRC 01/2019 (CBT held in 2022) was shortlisted for PET in December 2022. RRBs published a percentile row and a normalised-marks row; the percentile row (97 to 98 for UR) is not marks. The table below uses normalised marks, so it compares directly with CEN 08/2024.

Ahmedabad is checked against the official RRB Ahmedabad notice dated 22.12.2022; other rows are from secondary compilations that match each other. *Chandigarh appears in only one source. Bilaspur, Gorakhpur and Secunderabad are to be added from the official PDFs.

How the cut off moved from RRC 01/2019 to CEN 08/2024

The UR cut off rose in every RRB between the two cycles, mainly because Level 1 vacancies fell from about 1.03 lakh in RRC 01/2019 to 32,438 in CEN 08/2024 while applications stayed huge.

When posts fall sharply, the cut off climbs sharply, and RRBs that were low last time (Guwahati, Chennai) can turn high the next.

RRB Group D Minimum Qualifying Marks 2026

Before any cut off applies, a candidate must clear the minimum percentage set in para 14.1 of CEN 08/2024. Only those above this floor are considered for the 3x PET merit list.

The ST floor is 30% in CEN 08/2024, not 25% as older articles say.

RRB Group D Cut Off for Male and Female Candidates

There is no separate CBT cut off for men and women. Both are ranked on the same RRB-wise, community-wise normalised list. Gender only matters at the PET, where the standards differ, and transgender candidates follow the female standards.

How to Calculate Your RRB Group D Normalised Score

The CBT runs in many shifts, so RRB converts raw marks into normalised marks with a percentile method, and shortlisting (para 15.0) uses only normalised marks. An illustrative example:

1. Raw score: +1 for each correct answer and minus 1/3 for each wrong answer. Say you get 62 right and 18 wrong: 62 minus 6 = 56 raw marks.
2. Shift percentile: RRB finds what percentage of candidates in your shift scored 56 or less. Say it is 92.0.
3. Base shift: RRB picks a base shift, generally the shift with the highest average marks among shifts with adequate attendance.
4. Mapping: your percentile is mapped to the raw mark at the same percentile in the base shift. If 92.0 percentile in the base shift sits at 59.40, your normalised score becomes 59.40.

A tougher shift lifts your normalised score above your raw score, and an easier shift pulls it down, so two candidates with the same raw 56 can end up 3 to 4 marks apart. Compare the normalised score on your scorecard with the cut off, never the raw score from the answer key.

RRB Group D Expected Cut Off 2026 (CEN 09/2025): Safe vs Borderline Score

RRB has not released the CEN 09/2025 cut off. The table below is a Guidely estimate built from three facts: CEN 08/2024 cut offs per RRB, about 32% fewer posts (32,438 down to 22,195), and PET shortlisting at about 3 times community-wise vacancies. A smaller 3x pool means the last-ranked candidate is likely to score higher.

Example: a UR candidate in RRB Patna (CEN 08/2024 UR cut off 78.45) is safe at about 81.5 or above and borderline between 76.5 and 80.5. These estimates will be replaced once the CEN 09/2025 result is out.

RRB Group D Cut Off vs PET Merit List vs DV Merit List

"Cut off" is used for three different stages, and mixing them up is the most common reason students misread their status.

For example, RRC NFR's DV notice for CEN 08/2024 (15 October 2026) put the UR DV cut off at 78.258*, above RRB Guwahati's UR CBT cut off of 77.63. So being called for PET is a strong result, but not a selection.

RRB Group D PET Standards and Status

PET for CEN 08/2024 started on 25 July 2026 and ran RRC-wise through August and September, with each RRC publishing its own PET result and DV schedule. The standards below are from CEN 08/2024 and apply to CEN 09/2025 as well unless RRB changes them.

PwBD candidates, Course Completed Act Apprentices and Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET. Candidates who clear DV and the medical move to the Level 1 pay of Rs 18,000; the full pay and allowances are on the RRB Group D salary page.

Factors Affecting RRB Group D Cut Off

Five things decide where the cut off lands in each RRB.

1. Vacancies in that RRB and community: the single biggest factor, as the 01/2019 to 08/2024 jump shows.
2. Number of candidates who appear in that RRB.
3. Shift difficulty, absorbed through normalisation.
4. The 3x PET shortlisting ratio, which RRB can change.
5. Reservation rules for each community, PwBD, Ex-SM and CCAA.

The cut off is published as a PDF on each regional RRB website, not on a single portal.

1. Open the official website of the RRB you applied to.
2. Go to the CEN 08/2024 (or, later, CEN 09/2025) section.
3. Open the result notice and cut off PDF.
4. Find your community row, including the Ex-SM, PwBD or CCAA table if it applies to you.
5. Compare it with the normalised marks on your scorecard.
