RRB Technician Cut Off 2026: Expected and Previous Year Cut Off for Grade 1 and Grade 3
Oct 19 2026
The RRB Technician Cut Off 2026 for CEN 02/2026 will be released with the CBT result, which is expected after the answer key objection window closes on 22 October 2026. Two things will shape this year's cut off: RRB raised the vacancies from 6,557 to 7,325 on 16 October, and candidates rated the 6–9 October papers moderate. Until the official marks are out, you can work out your score with the RRB Technician answer key and compare it with the expected and previous year cut offs below.
RRB Technician Cut Off 2026: Overview
RRB releases the cut off RRB-wise, and within each RRB it is set separately for each post (Cat No.), railway unit and category. Because candidates are called for document verification in a 1:1 ratio to vacancies, the cut off is simply the normalised score of the last candidate selected in each slot.

The 768 extra Grade 3 posts went to Fitter (OL), Carriage and Wagon and Welder (OL), mainly in Kolkata, Secunderabad, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur and Ranchi. Cut offs for those trades in those RRBs are likely to come in lower than last year.
RRB Technician Grade 1 Cut Off
Grade 1 Signal cut offs rose sharply between the last two cycles because vacancies fell from 1,092 (CEN 02/2024) to 183 (CEN 02/2025). With 323 posts in 2026, the cut off is expected to settle between the two.

Muzaffarpur had no Grade 3 vacancy in CEN 02/2025. Cat 15, the most sought-after Grade 3 post, had the highest cut off in most RRBs; the full Cat No.-wise and category-wise lists are in each RRB's result PDF.
RRB Technician Minimum Qualifying Marks 2026
You must reach these marks in the CBT to be considered at all. Above this, selection depends on where your normalised score falls against the cut off for your post and category.

In 2025, every published UR cut off was above 44, so qualifying marks alone have never been enough for selection.
Factors Affecting RRB Technician Cut Off 2026
The 2026 cut off will move on four things:
- Vacancy revision: 768 more Grade 3 posts, mostly in Fitter (OL) and C&W, should pull those cut offs down.
- Grade 1 posts: 323 posts against 183 last year should lower Grade 1 cut offs from 2025 levels.
- Paper difficulty: both grades were rated moderate, in line with 2025, so no big jump is expected from the paper itself.
- Normalisation: scores from the 6–9 October shifts are normalised, so a tougher shift does not by itself mean a lower final score.
How to Check RRB Technician Cut Off 2026
The cut off PDF comes with the result on each regional RRB website.
- Open the website of the RRB you applied to.
- Click the CEN 02/2026 Technician result link.
- Open the cut off PDF for your grade.
- Find the row for your Cat No. and railway, then your category column.
- Compare it with your normalised marks shown in your scorecard.
RRB Technician Result and Merit List 2026
The result will list roll numbers shortlisted for document verification, RRB-wise. There is no second CBT for Technician, so shortlisted candidates move straight to document verification and a medical exam, and the final merit list is based only on CBT marks. Selected candidates join at Pay Level 5 (Grade 1 Signal) or Pay Level 2 (Grade 3); see the RRB Technician salary for in-hand pay.
If you are preparing for the next cycle, the RRB Technician syllabus shows which sections carry the most marks, and the RRB ALP cut off is a useful comparison for other technical railway posts.
