AAI - Airport Authority of India
The Airport Authority of India is the body that manages both the International Airports in India 2024 as well as the Domestic Airports in India 2024. Airports Authority of India (AAI) manages a total of 137 Airports, which includes 103 Domestic Airports, 24 International Airports, and 10 Customs Airports. AAI is responsible for creating, maintaining, upgrading, and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India and works under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Custom airports in India 2024: These airports have customs and immigration facilities for limited international operations by national carriers and for foreign tourist and cargo charter flights. It is an airport notified by the appropriate customs authority of the country as an airport for the uploading of imported goods and the loading of exported goods or any class of such goods. This place shall be an inland container of depots for the unloading of imported goods and the loading or clearance of exported goods or any such class of goods. There are 10 custom airports in India.

Civil Enclaves in Defence Airports in India: There are 26 civil enclaves in Defence Airfields. A civil enclave is an area at a military airbase allotted for the usage of civil aviation. Air traffic control at civil enclaves is usually entrusted to the armed forces or it may be a joint civilian-military crew.

International airports in India include customs and international terminals. Passengers can fly abroad through direct or connecting flights. It can also be used for domestic flights apart from international ones. There are two different terminals in India, namely domestic and international terminals. A domestic airport is an airport that handles only domestic flights—flights within the same country. Domestic airports do not have customs and immigration facilities and so cannot handle flights to or from a foreign airport. These airports often have short runways sufficient to handle short or medium-haul aircraft and regional air traffic. Security checks/metal detectors are used in most countries, but such checks were for domestic flights and installed in many cases decades after checks for international flights. Domestic airports in airport domestic terminals offer a wide range of facilities and services for the benefit and comfort of travelers. There are VIP lounges and other areas in airports where you can sit back and relax with a cup of coffee or tea as you watch TV or browse the Internet using the free Wi-Fi facility. Some airports in India 2024 have spa facilities and shower and massage lounges for the passengers to rejuvenate after long and tiring flights. Shopping outlets, food stalls, and restaurants among other things make the airports a destination within themselves. Its facilities for the ease of the passengers include escalators, elevators, baggage trolleys, tourist information counters, money exchange counters, ATMs, and banks. Additionally, there are baby-care rooms, wheelchairs, assistance for the physically disabled, smoking rooms, and shower rooms in some well-equipped domestic airports.
