RRB has increased the Technician vacancies under CEN 02/2026 from 6,557 to 7,325 through a corrigendum dated 16 October 2026. All 768 new posts are in Technician Grade 3, which now has 7,002 vacancies, while Grade 1 Signal stays at 323. The increase came a week after the CBT (6–9 October), so it applies to candidates who have already written the exam and widens the merit list RRB will draw from. The revision added posts in 11 of the 21 RRBs and in three Grade 3 trades. The headline figures are:

RRB Technician Total Vacancy 2026

The total of 7,325 is the highest Technician intake since CEN 02/2024, and the recruitment is now at the answer key stage.

RRB Technician Grade 1 Vacancy 2026

Grade 1 Signal was not changed in the revision. Its 323 posts are spread over 19 RRBs, with Mumbai (59), Ahmedabad (37) and Kolkata (29) having the most, while Bilaspur and Jammu-Srinagar have none.

The post is at Pay Level 5 with a starting basic of ₹29,200 and needs the B-1 medical standard.

RRB Technician Grade 3 Vacancy 2026

Grade 3 posts fall into three groups by where the technician works, which also decides the medical standard needed.

All Grade 3 posts are at Pay Level 2 with a starting basic of ₹19,900. The RRB Technician salary page shows the in-hand pay for both grades.

RRB Technician Zone-Wise Vacancy 2026

Kolkata (+150), Secunderabad (+115), Chandigarh (+65) and Gorakhpur (+65) gained the most posts. Mumbai remains the largest RRB with 1,156 vacancies, and Jammu-Srinagar the smallest with 26.

Since each candidate applied to one RRB, the merit list and cut off are prepared RRB-wise. A candidate in Kolkata or Secunderabad now competes for many more seats than before the revision.

RRB Technician Vacancy 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Applications closed on 29 July 2026, so these rules now matter at document verification, where every certificate is checked.

The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL and 10–15 years for PwBD candidates, with only one relaxation applied. Nationality rules are the usual railway ones: Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, and specified categories of Tibetan refugees and persons of Indian origin.
