RBI Grade B Selection Process 2025

The candidates applying for RBI Grade B recruitment must undergo three stages of the RBI Grade B selection Process, namely:

  1. Phase I: Prelims

  2. Phase II: Mains

  3. Phase III: Interview

 

  • For General DR posts, the RBI Group B selection criteria will be through online examinations and an Interview. Examinations will be held in three phases: Phase I: Online Examination (Objective Type), Phase II: Online Examination. Candidates who cleared the Phase II examination will be shortlisted for the Phase III: Interview.

  • For DEPR and DSIM Cadres, Selection will be through Online/ Written Examinations (WE) and Interview. There are 4 papers for the Examination. In Phase I of the examination, there will be Paper I: Objective Type (on Economics) and Paper II: Descriptive Type (On English). In Phase II, there will be Paper I: Descriptive Type (on Economics) and Paper II: Descriptive Type (on Economics). Finally, the Phase III is the Interview.

 

1. Grade B (DR) - General

Phase I: Online Examination (Objective Type) 

  • The RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam pattern 2025 consists of four sections, namely, General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning.

  • There is a total of 200 questions placed in the RBI Grade B Phase-I exam.

  • The time duration is a total of 2 hours.

  • Candidates who secure minimum marks separately for each Test, as prescribed, will be shortlisted for Phase II of the examination based on the aggregate marks obtained in Phase I.

 

Phase II: Online Examination (Objective Type +  Descriptive Type) (DR) (General)

  • The RBI Grade B Phase 2 exam consists of three papers, namely, Paper I, II, and III.

  • Phase II consists of both objective and descriptive papers.

  • The exam is conducted for 300 marks.

  • Paper I: (Economic and Social Issues) - 50% Objective Type + 50% Descriptive Type.

  • Paper II: English (Writing Skills) - Descriptive, to be typed with the help of the keyboard.

  • Paper III: (General Finance and Management) - 50% Objective Type + 50% Descriptive Type.

 

Phase III: Interview

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for the Interview based on the aggregate of marks obtained in Phase-II (Paper-I, Paper-II, Paper-III).

  • The minimum aggregate cut-off marks for being shortlisted for

  • The interview will be 75 marks.

  • Candidate shall be required to undergo a Personality Assessment conducted by the Bank before appearing for the Interview.

2. Grade B (DR) - DEPR

Phase I: Online Examination (Objective Type + Descriptive)

  • Here in Phase I examination, the Paper I Objective Type will be based on Economics.

  • The Paper II, English - Descriptive to be typed with the help of a keyboard.

  • The Phase I examination will be conducted for 200 marks, where 100 marks are allocated for each separate paper (I and II).

 

Phase II: Online Examination (Descriptive Type)

  • Here in Phase II examination, Papers I and II (Descriptive Type) will be based on Economics.

  • For both papers, the Question paper was displayed on the computer, and the answers were to be written on paper.

  • The Phase II examination will be conducted for 200 marks, where 100 marks are allocated for each separate paper (I and II).

  • Candidates have to secure a minimum of marks as may be prescribed by the Board.

 

Phase III: Interview

  • The number of candidates to be called for an Interview will be decided by the Board.

  • Final selection will be based on performance in the 'Online / WE’ in Phase-I (Paper - I and Paper - II), Phase-II (Paper - I and Paper - II) and the Interview taken together.

  • The interview will be 75 marks.

  • The candidate may opt for an Interview in either Hindi or English.

  • Candidate shall be required to undergo a Personality Assessment conducted by the Bank before appearing for the Interview.

  • No marks will be allotted for the same, and it will not form part of the final selection criteria.

 

3. Grade B (DR) - DSIM

  • Selection will be through Online/ Written Examinations (WE) and an Interview.

  • There are 3 papers for the Examination. Paper-I: Objective Type (on Statistics) and Papers-II Descriptive Type (on Statistics) - Question paper displayed on computer, answers to be written on paper & III English – Descriptive to be typed with the help of a keyboard.

  • The exam is conducted for 300 marks, where 100 marks are allocated for each separate paper.

  • The number of candidates to be called for the Interview will be decided by the Board.

  • Final selection will be on the basis of performance in the ‘Online / WE’ (Paper-I, II and III) and the Interview taken together.

  • The interview will be 75 marks. The candidate may opt for an Interview either in Hindi or English.

  • Candidate shall be required to undergo a Personality Assessment conducted by the Bank before appearing for the Interview.

  • No marks will be allotted for the same, and it will not form part of the final selection criteria.
