ESIC UDC, Steno Exam Last Minute Study Tips: Exam Pattern
Before knowing the ESIC UDC last-minute preparation the candidates must be well familiar with the exam pattern of the UDC exam. The ESIC UDC steno exam consists of two stages ie the Main examination and skill test. To get qualified for the next stage of the selection process ie interview the candidates must score the minimum marks in the Main exam.
Main Examination
It is an objective-type question paper and there will be 200 questions with each carrying 1 mark that is the exam is for 200 marks. There will be negative marking in the exam and for each wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks will be deducted. The marks obtained in Main Examination will be considered for final selection. The candidates shortlisted from the main examination will be in the ratio of 1:10.

Skill Test:
The skill test which is phase 2 is qualifying in nature and the candidates who are shortlisted from the main examination will have to attend the skill test. It is a transcription and typing test where the candidate has to type dictation for 10 mins either in English or in Hindi as mentioned in the application form at a speed of 80 words per minute.

- Go through the whole syllabus and be sure of not missing even a single topic:
Always keep a check if you have completed all your syllabus and nothing important is left out, that can cost you lose your marks in the exam.
- Penalty for Wrong Answer; Avoid Guesswork:
For every wrong answer marked by you, 1/4 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty. All the questions in paper 2 will have multiple choices. Out of the five answers to a question, only one will be the correct answer.

Reach Exam Centre on time
Candidates should check all the documents like Admit Card, ID proof, etc. before leaving for the exam centre. Try to reach the exam centre before time. This way, you will be able to get some extra time by reaching the exam centre early which you can use to go through all the instructions carefully.

- First attempt only the sections in which you are more confident.
- Make a timeline and stick to it.

- First clear the sectional cutoff of all the sections.
- some questions look complex but actually are very easy.
- First read the question in 5 seconds.
- If you can figure out how to solve it quickly, then go for it. If you are unable to identify how to solve it in less than a minute, skip that question as of now.
- Remember you only get less than a minute to solve a question.
- Solving 70-80% questions with 100% accuracy is better than solving 100% questions with 70-80% accuracy.
