Telugu Language Day celebration is observed on 29 August each year in the state of Andhra Pradesh of the Republic of India. This date was chosen to coincide with the birthday of the Telugu poet Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy. The government of Andhra Pradesh provides funds and presents awards with the objective of the betterment of the Telegu language. The Department of Culture is responsible for organizing the day on behalf of the government. Telugu Language Day in India is celebrated in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy was a Telugu writer and one of the earliest modern Telugu linguists and social visionaries during British rule. Spoken Telugu was different from written Telugu, which is taught at schools. Learning written Telugu didn’t give necessary skills for understanding or effective communication in everyday life. Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy was born on August 29 ,1863 , in the town of Parvatalapeta, Srikakulam. Ramamurthy’s efforts resulted in Telugu becoming a standard language.
