SSC CGL weightage differs by tier. Tier 1 is a 100-question screening test with four equal sections, while Tier 2 has more questions per subject and adds Computer Awareness and, for some posts, Statistics.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Topic Wise Weightage

The SSC CGL Tier 1 topic wise weightage below is based on previous-year shift analysis. Each section has 25 questions, so the ranges show where most of those 25 usually come from.

SSC CGL Reasoning Topic Wise Weightage

Coding-Decoding is the most consistent reasoning topic (at least 2 questions), and Analogy, the two Series types and Syllogism can each add up to 3–4. In some shifts these five topics together give up to 17 of the 25 questions.

SSC CGL General Awareness Topic Wise Weightage

Current Affairs, History and Economy have the widest ranges (up to 5 questions each), so they swing the GA score the most. Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology together) adds about 1–6 questions, and Polity 1–3.

SSC CGL Maths Topic Wise Weightage

This chapter wise weightage for SSC CGL Quant shows that Data Interpretation alone can give 3–6 questions, and the three advanced topics (Geometry, Mensuration and Trigonometry) give 5–12 together. Arithmetic topics such as Profit and Loss, Time and Work and Number System add 1–3 each.

SSC CGL English Topic Wise Weightage

The SSC CGL English weightage is spread across grammar and vocabulary. Error Spotting and Sentence Improvement (4–5) and the Cloze Test or Reading Comprehension (3–5) are the largest blocks, followed by Synonyms and Antonyms (3–4). Grammar rules cover about a third of the section, so they are the best place to start.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Topic Wise Weightage

SSC CGL Tier 2 topic wise weightage covers more questions per subject than Tier 1, and the questions are tougher. The tables below show previous-year ranges for each Tier 2 module; use them alongside the module question counts in the overview table above.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Maths Topic Wise Weightage

Geometry has the widest range in Tier 2 Maths (4–15), followed by Data Interpretation and Percentage (up to 10 each). Number System is the most stable at 5–6 questions.

SSC CGL Tier 2 English Topic Wise Weightage

Reading Comprehension is the single biggest block in Tier 2 English, and Error Spotting (12–15) is the most consistent. Narration and Voice questions also appear in large numbers, so practise them as full sets rather than one at a time.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Reasoning Topic Wise Weightage

Unlike Tier 1, Seating Arrangement is the top Tier 2 reasoning topic (6–8 questions), followed by Series (4–6) and Coding-Decoding (3–5).

SSC CGL Tier 2 Computer Awareness Topic Wise Weightage

The Computer module is qualifying, but you still need to clear it. MS Office, abbreviations, computer classification, hardware and Windows each give 2–4 questions, so these five topics cover most of the module.

SSC CGL Tier 2 General Awareness Topic Wise Weightage

Tier 2 GA gives more weight to Current Affairs (6–9) and Science (5–7) than Tier 1 does, where each is capped at about 5–6. Revise static GK for Tier 1, but keep Current Affairs up to date until your Tier 2 date.

The Statistics paper (Paper 2) applies only to candidates who opt for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and similar statistics posts.
