The 71st National Film Awards, organised by the National Film Development Corporation of India, were officially announced on 1 August 2025 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting during a press conference, recognising and celebrating the best achievements in Indian cinema for the year 2023. There were 332 entries in the feature film category, 115 in non-feature films, 27 books, and 16 critics’ submissions. The award winners, along with the recipients of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, were honoured by President Droupadi Murmu on 23 September 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The 71st National Film Awards recognised outstanding cinematic achievements. The awards celebrated a diverse range of films and talent from across India's regional cinema landscape. Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey shared Best Actor for Jawan and 12th Fail, respectively. Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee.
