  • According to historians, Makar Sankranti is a celebration that is described in both the Mahabharata and the Puranas. The event is attributed to the Vedic sage Vishvamitra. The Pandavas celebrated Makar Sankranti while they were banished, according to the Mahabharata.

  • The Makar Sankranti event, also known as the Kite Festival or Khichdi, is celebrated on January 14 and 15. It will be observed every year and it denotes the start of the harvest season.
