SSC JE Cut Off 2026: Expected, Previous Year Cut Off, Paper 1 and Paper 2

The SSC JE 2026 Paper 1 will be held from 2 to 6 November 2026, so the SSC JE Cut Off 2026 will be released only with the Paper 1 result, likely in early 2027. Until then, the 2025 cut-off is the best benchmark. Last year, General candidates needed 127.22748 (Civil) and 127.30120 (Electrical/Mechanical) out of 200 to reach Paper 2. With 1,748 posts in the SSC JE 2026 notification, more seats are on offer this year, which may ease the cut-off slightly.

SSC JE Cut Off 2026

SSC will release the Paper 1 cut-off as a PDF along with the result on ssc.gov.in, separately for Civil and Electrical/Mechanical. The Paper 2 (final) cut-off will come after the final result. Here is where things stand.

In the 2025 cycle, Paper 1 was held on 3–6 December 2025 and the result came on 6 March 2026, about three months later. A similar gap would put the 2026 Paper 1 cut-off around February 2027.

How the SSC JE Cut Off Works

SSC JE has two cut-offs. The Paper 1 cut-off decides who goes to Paper 2, and the Paper 2 cut-off decides the final selection department by department. Paper 1 marks are not added to the final merit, so Paper 2 is where the post is decided. The full scheme of both papers is in the SSC JE syllabus and exam pattern.

Mechanical and Electrical candidates sit in one combined Electrical/Mechanical group for the cut-off. So there is no separate Mechanical or Electrical cut-off; both use the same E/M figure.

SSC JE Minimum Qualifying Marks

Before the cut-off applies, you must cross the minimum qualifying marks in Paper 1. Scoring these marks only makes you eligible; you still need to reach the cut-off to get to Paper 2.

SSC JE Expected Cut Off 2026

This estimate is based on the 2024 and 2025 cut-offs, the higher vacancy count this year and the usual Paper 1 difficulty. It is not an official figure; use it only as a target.

Factors Affecting the SSC JE Cut Off

The cut-off changes every year because of a few clear factors:

  • Number of vacancies in each discipline and category
  • Number of candidates who appear, which has grown for Civil
  • Difficulty level of each shift, adjusted through normalisation
  • Department mix, since new departments (like DoT and IMD in 2026) add new posts
  • Eligibility rules, such as diploma holders needing experience for some posts (see who is eligible for SSC JE)

How to Check SSC JE Cut Off

SSC publishes the cut-off only as a PDF on its website. Follow these steps once the result is out, and keep the SSC JE exam page handy for result and Paper 2 updates.

  • Go to ssc.gov.in and open the Result section.
  • Select Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) Examination 2026.
  • Open the Paper 1 result notice PDF.
  • Scroll to the cut-off table and check the marks for your discipline and category.

SSC JE Cut Off: FAQs

Q1. What is the SSC JE cut off 2026?

Q2. When will the SSC JE cut off 2026 be released?

With the Paper 1 result. In 2025, the result came about three months after the exam, so early 2027 is likely.

Q3. Where can I check the SSC JE cut off marks?

On ssc.gov.in, in the Result section, inside the result notice PDF.

Q4. What was the SSC JE cut off 2025?

For Paper 1, the UR cut-off was 127.22748 for Civil and 127.30120 for Electrical/Mechanical, out of 200.

Q5. What is the SSC JE Paper 1 cut off?

It is the minimum normalised score out of 200 needed to qualify for Paper 2. It is set separately for Civil and E/M, and for each category.

Q6. What is the SSC JE Paper 2 cut off?

It is the final selection cut-off out of 300, set for each department and category. In 2025, it was 208–246 for Civil and about 180–231 for E/M across categories (excluding PwBD).

Q7. Is the SSC JE cut off released category-wise?

Yes. SSC releases it for UR, OBC, EWS, SC, ST and the PwBD categories (OH, HH and others).

Q8. What is the SSC JE Civil Engineering cut off?

The 2025 Paper 1 Civil cut-off was 127.22748 (UR), 124.45815 (OBC), 117.90628 (EWS), 109.24462 (SC) and 106.85210 (ST).

Q9. What is the SSC JE Mechanical Engineering cut off?

Mechanical shares the combined E/M cut-off. In 2025, it was 127.30120 for UR and OBC and 115.36583 for EWS.

Q10. What is the SSC JE Electrical Engineering cut off?

Electrical also uses the combined E/M cut-off: 127.30120 (UR), 112.05213 (SC) and 102.86832 (ST) in 2025.

Q11. What are the minimum qualifying marks for SSC JE?

30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for SC, ST and other categories in Paper 1.

Q12. How is the SSC JE cut off calculated?

SSC normalises scores across shifts and then sets the cut-off based on vacancies and the number of candidates to be shortlisted in each category.

Q13. What factors affect the SSC JE cut off marks?

The number of vacancies, number of candidates, paper difficulty, normalisation and the category and discipline.

Q14. Is the SSC JE cut off different for each category?

Yes. It differs by category, by discipline (Civil or E/M) and, for Paper 2, by department.

Q15. How can I check the previous year SSC JE cut off?

Open the Result section on ssc.gov.in and download the JE result notice for that year. The last five years are also listed above.
