75th Indian Independence Day Highlights: The Indian government has been enthusiastically commemorating the 75th anniversary under PM Modi. As part of its Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, it has started a national movement called "Har-Ghar Tiranga" (Every family to fly the tricolour). As part of the Mahotsav or grand celebration, several events and campaigns have been organised for 75 weeks to celebrate independence and the glorious history of India’s people, culture and achievements. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a speech to the nation from the Red Fort's ramparts. In the usual ceremonial practice, the Prime Minister of India hoists the flag from the Red Fort at Delhi followed by a speech on achievements and proud moments as a people of this country.
Har Ghar Tiranga: Indian Independence Day
The goal of the initiative is to encourage Indians everywhere to fly the flag at home. Instead of just keeping it formal or institutional, the program's goal is to make the bond with the national flag more personal.
The majority of PM Modi's speech was devoted to honouring the freedom warriors, the partition, and the problems that the nation would face as it enters the critical next 25 years as it approaches its 100th anniversary of independence in 2047.

Modi outlined five goals for India or the “panch pran” for the ‘Amrit Kaal. In the years to come, our attention must be on 'Panchpran'-

Highlights of 75th Indian Independence Day
- On the occasion of its 75th Independence Day, India will give Sri Lanka a free Dornier 228 maritime surveillance aircraft for a period of two years. The plane is being offered for a two-year interim period until Sri Lanka's plane, which is being made in India, is ready.
- During the ceremonial 21-gun salute, an indigenous howitzer gun called the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), which was created as part of the government's "Make in India" effort, was fired for the first time in 75 years. The ceremonial salute has thus far been fired off with British guns.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi predicted that 5G mobile services would soon be available in India as he pushed for "Made-in-India" technological solutions to handle the difficulties of the country's transformation.

Some History Facts on Indian Independence Day:
- The first Indian national flag was hoisted on August 7, 1906, at Parsee Bagan Square in Kolkata.
- The first variant closer to the current day Indian tricolour was designed by Pingali Venkayya in 1921. It had two major colours-red and green.
- The Indian Tiranga was formally adopted on July 22, 1947, with a few alterations, including the addition of the saffron and white colours, Ashoka chakra from the lion capital of Emperor Ashoka. The ceremony was held on August 15, 1947.
- A historic resolution that designated the tricolour flag as our national flag was adopted in 1931. This flag, the ancestor of the current one, featured Mahatma Gandhi's spinning wheel in the middle and was made of saffron, white, and green.
About Pingali Venkayya: Indian Independence Day
- On August 2, 1876, Pingali Venkayya was born. He was a zealous independence warrior and the creator of the flag that served as the model for the Indian national flag.
- He was born in what is now the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh at Bhatlapenumarru, close to Masulipatnam.
- For his contributions to the Indian liberation fight, Pingali Venkayya received a postage stamp in 2009, and in 2011 it was suggested that he be given the Bharat Ratna posthumously.

- In the national flag of India, the top band is of Saffron colour, indicating the strength and courage of the country.
- The white middle band indicates peace and truth with Dharma Chakra.
- The last band is green in colour showing the fertility, growth and auspiciousness of the land.
