World Forestry Day 2022: On March 21st, 2022 World Forest day 2022 is celebrated all over the world. It is an international event observed all over the world annually on March 21st every year to ring a bell among society about the importance of forests and the scores of benefits which are gained them. This Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. This day is observed on the United Nations (UN) recommendation every year on the 21st of March. The UN General Assembly proclaimed March 21 as the International Day of Forests in 2012 to commemorate and raise awareness of the significance of all types of forests. Various organizations, private and government, work together on this day to enlighten people not only about the forests at large but also the trees and vegetation that exists outside of the forested areas. The day is celebrated to make people aware of the importance of the green cover not only today but also for all future generations. This day is a reminder of the value of forests in the lives of living creatures.
We depend on forests for our survival, from the air we breathe to the wood we use. Besides providing habitats for animals and livelihoods for humans, forests also offer watershed protection, prevent soil erosion and mitigate climate change.
World Forestry Day 2022: History
Previously, the 16th session of the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) voted to “World Forestry Day" in 1971. Then, from 2007 to 2012, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) held six Forest Days. Partnering with Collaborative Partnership on Forest, 2011 was declared as the Year of Forests. On November 28, 2012, The United Nations General Assembly declared that March 21 shall be celebrated as World Forest Day.

The theme for World Forestry Day 2022 is “Forests and sustainable production and consumption”.This theme of International Forests Day also means that all the life possible on earth is somehow related to the existence of forests. The water we drink, the medicines we take, the food we enjoy, the shelter we have come under, and even the oxygen we need, all have an association with forests. And we can never deny such vitality when life is running with their animation.
