RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2024

The candidates should know about the RBI Grade B eligibility criteria which is the first element that should be aware of the candidates before applying for the posts. Candidates should know about all the necessary eligibility criteria, several attempts, age limit, and important documents. The candidates with all the necessary documents to support their eligibility will be considered eligible.

Educational Qualifications:

Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) - (General):

  • Candidates must have at least 60% marks in their Graduation, or equivalent (whereas 50% for reserved categories). 
  • They should have passed their 10th and 12th examinations from a recognized board or university. 
  • Post-graduation in any discipline/ Equivalent technical or professional qualification with a minimum of 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters/years. The minimum percentage in the qualifying exam or degree will be calculated by adding the marks or percentage of all semesters or years. 
  • Candidates who have passed the Final Examination for Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India may also apply for the post, subject to obtaining the minimum marks prescribed above.

Officers in Grade B - DEPR:

  • Candidates must have a valid Master's Degree in any one of the following: Econometrics, Economics, Quantitative Economics, Integrated Economics Course, Mathematical Economics, Finance, or equivalent from a recognized Indian/Foreign University or Institute. The minimum score required is 55% marks, which will be calculated by adding the marks of all the semesters or years.

  • Candidates having degrees like PGDM or MBA Finance or an equivalent degree with a minimum score of 55% marks are also eligible.

or 

  • Candidates who must have a valid Master’s Degree in Economics in any one of the sub-branches of economics like agricultural, developmental, business, applied, etc. are also eligible. They must have a minimum aggregate score of 55%, which will be calculated by adding the marks of all the semesters or years.

Officers in Grade B - DISM:

  • Candidates having a valid Master's Degree in any one of the following subjects- Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Informatics, etc. from IIT-Kharagpur or having a degree in Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay can apply for the RBI Grade B examination. They must have a minimum aggregate score of 55% marks

  • Candidates having a Master's Degree in Mathematics and also possessing a minimum aggregate score of 55% are eligible.

or

  • Candidates who have now completed a one-year post-graduation diploma in the subject of Statistics or related subjects from a reputed university or institution can also apply.

or

  • Candidates who have completed the M. Stat. Degree from the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) and a minimum aggregate score of 55% can apply for the exam.

or

  • Candidates who have completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA), which is jointly offered by the institution of the ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Calcutta, and have a minimum score of 55% marks are also eligible.

Nationality:

The candidates must belong to any one of the following categories. They are - 

(1) A Citizen of India

(2) A subject of Nepal

(3) A subject of Bhutan

(4) A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India.

(5) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from any of the following countries: Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to settle permanently in India

Candidates belonging to categories (2), (3), (4), and (5) should possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

RBI Grade B Eligibility Age Limit:

Candidates must be of the minimum age of 21 years, and the maximum age limit for the RBI Grade B exam is 30. For the candidates, who possess M.Phil. and Ph.D. qualifications, the upper age limit for them will be 32 and 34 years respectively. The RBI Grade B Eligibility for OBC with the upper age limit as 33 years.

Some Universities/Institutes/Boards do not award Class or percentage of marks and allot Aggregate Grade Points (e.g., CGPA/OGPA/CPI, etc.). In case the University/Institute/Board defines criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Points into percentage of marks, the same will be accepted. However, where the University/Institute/ Board does not define criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Points into percentage of marks, in the degree/passing certificates, the undefined parameter(s) would be worked out as under:

The maximum time a general category candidate can apply for the RBI Grade B Phase I exam is 6. There is no attempt limit for the candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, or EWS categories.
