The President of India is the head of the state and he/she is also known as the country's first citizen. Droupadi Murmu - 15th President of India

Droupadi Murmu who is 64-year-old (President of India Present) has been elected as the 2nd female president of India and the first tribal/first Dalit President of India. Formerly, President of India 2022 Droupadi Murmu served as the governor of Jharkhand. She succeeded Ram Nath Govind, the 14th President of India. President of India Eligibility

The main requirements for being eligible for the post of president are laid out in Article 58 of the constitution. 

A president must be:

• a citizen of India.

• 35 years of age or above.

• qualified to become a member of the Lok Sabha.

• Opposition Candidate for the 15th Presidential Election of India: Yashwant Sinha.

Term of President of India

After being elected, the president takes the oath of office and serves for five years. He/she may, however, remain in the position until a new applicant is chosen for it. The Electoral College has the power to elect him several times. He/ She can run for office again indefinitely.

Impeachment of the President of India

Article 61 of our Constitution deals with the impeachment of the President. The Constitution does not include a lot of requirements for the president's impeachment. The "violation of the constitution" is the only circumstance under which the president may be removed from office.
