Yorker

A yorker is a ball pitched on or inside the popping crease. A full pitch is a ball that the batsmen can reach before it hits the ground. A long hop is a ball short of good length.

Crease

The bowling crease, which is the back edge of the crease marking, is the line that marks the end of the pitch, as in Law 6.1 (Area of pitch). It shall be 8 ft 8 in/2.64 m in length.

 

Pavilion

A cricket pavilion is a pavilion at a cricket ground. It is the main building within which the players usually change in dressing rooms and which is the main location for watching the cricket match for members and others

LBW

LBW rules. Simply put, a batsman is considered out LBW if they obstruct a ball that was en route to hitting the stumps with any part of their body barring their hands. In cricket, the hands, up to the wrists, are considered as an extension of the bat.

Stump

In cricket, the stumps are the three vertical posts that support the bails and form the wicket. Stumping or being stumped is a method of dismissing a batsman.

Bails

In the sport of cricket, a bail is one of the two smaller sticks placed on top of the three stumps to form a wicket. The bails are used to determine when the wicket is broken or put down, which in turn is one of the critical factors in determining whether a batsman is outbowled, stumped, run out, or hit a wicket.

Silly

point (plural silly points) (cricket) A fielding position, on the offside, square of the batsman's wicket, and very near the batsman; a fielder in this position.

Maiden Over

When a bowler bowls a full over without allowing the batsman to score a run.

Edge

When a batter only just makes contact with the ball with the side of his bat and is caught by the wicketkeeper or the slips.

Bully

Short Corner

During a penalty corner, also called a short corner, not more than five players, including the goalkeeper, can defend the goal.
