Eligibility Criteria
Before proceeding with the application form, candidates must meet the eligibility qualifications detailed in the SBI PO notification 2026. The eligibility criteria are listed below.
Nationality - Applicants should be Indian Citizens.
Educational Qualification (as on 30-9-2026) - Candidates must possess a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.
Age Limit - The candidate’s age must be not below 21 years and not above 30 years (as on 01.04.2026)

Maximum Number of Permissible Chances
Candidates who have already appeared for the maximum number of permissible chances are not eligible to apply.

The number of chances will be counted from the examination held on 18.04.2010.

Appearing in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted as a chance.

Appearing in the Main Examination will be counted as a chance.

In the years in which only one written examination has been held (i.e. no Preliminary Examination has been held), appearing in this examination will be counted as a chance.

SBI PO Selection Process
The selection methods for SBI PO Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in three phases namely,

Prelims (Phase I)

Mains (Phase II)

Phase III comprises the Psychometric Test, Group Exercise (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks).

The Bank may conduct a Psychometric test for personality profiling of those candidates who will be shortlisted for Phase-III.
-
The test findings may be placed before the Interview panel to have a thorough perspective on the candidates.
-
Marks secured by the candidates in Phase II (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 marks and Phase-III scores of candidates (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25 marks.

The final merit list arrived after aggregating (out of 100) converted marks of Phases II and III.
-
Selection will be made from the top merit-ranked candidates in each category.
Preliminary Exam Pattern (Phase I)
The SBI PO prelims exam consists of three sections.

For each question for which the candidate has given a wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty.
-
There will be no sectional cut-off in the preliminary examination.

Mains Exam Pattern (Phase II)
SBI PO mains consists of Objective tests for 200 marks and Descriptive test for 50 marks.
There will be a deduction of 1/4th of the marks assigned to the question for every wrong answer in the main exam. It is compulsory to clear the main exam to enter phase III. Check the main pattern tabulated below.
NOTE - Sectional cutoff is applicable for the mains exam.

The starting basic pay for the SBI Probationary Officer post is Rs.48480/- (plus 4 advance increments) on a scale of Rs. 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920.

Cut Off
The board releases cut-off marks after the completion of every round of the exam.

The candidates must clear the cut-off of every round to qualify for the next exam stage.

After the candidates clear the cut-off of all three rounds then they will be considered eligible for appointment to the Post.

The results of the SBI PO Prelims determine the candidate's qualification for the SBI PO Mains examination.

The final merit list of selected candidates is compiled based on the combined scores from the main exam and the interview process.
