  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed monetary penalties on Five Star Business Finance Limited, Can Fin Homes Limited, and Pahal Financial Services Private Limited for violating Know Your Customer (KYC) Directions and the Fair Practices Code.
  • India's external debt increased to US$ 762.8 billion as of 31 March 2026, registering an increase of US$ 26.3 billion over the previous year.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a monetary penalty of ₹70,000 on Repco Home Finance Limited for violating the Fair Practice Code.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) expanded the Benchmark Issuance Strategy (BIS) from 9 States to 18 States and the Union Territory of Delhi from Q2 of FY 2026–27.
  • The Government of India (GoI) has extended two additional investment choices under the National Pension System (NPS) to employees of Central Autonomous Bodies (CABs) covered under NPS.

  • AU Small Finance Bank Limited (AU SFB) partnered with Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Limited (Zaggle) to launch the AU Zaggle Co-Branded Retail Credit Card on the Visa and RuPay payment networks through the money platform.
  • IDFC FIRST Bank has launched Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Payment Services through integration with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
  • Bank of Baroda (BoB) has entered into a joint out-of-court settlement with NMC Health PLC and NMC Healthcare Ltd, agreeing to pay USD 600 million (around ₹5,100 crore) to resolve claims related to its lending exposure to the collapsed UAE-based NMC Group.
  • Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has constituted the ASCEND (Accelerated Scaling of Global Capital Ecosystem and NPS Development) Committee to strengthen the National Pension System (NPS) by attracting global pension fund investments into India.

  • Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, received the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) Humanitarian Award during the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) Annual Convention 2026, held in Tampa, Florida, United States of America (USA).
  • Acharya Ranchhodlal Goswami from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has been selected for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2025, announced by the Sangeet Natak Akademi under the Union Ministry of Culture for the 2024–25 awards cycle.
  • The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), under the Ministry of Communications, won the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize 2026 for its flagship Samriddh Gram: Integrated Phygital Service Delivery Model, enabled by the BharatNet initiative.

  • Dilip Asbe, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), was appointed to the Supervisory Board of the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT).
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the appointments of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to three key police and law enforcement institutions based on a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the appointment of Mahesh Muralidhar Pai as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of South Indian Bank (SIB).
  • InsuranceDekho, an Insurtech platform, appointed former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly as its Brand Ambassador.

  • The Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA) between the Government of India and the Government of the State of Israel came into force on 4 July 2026.
  • Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) and Abu Dhabi-based International Resources Holding (IRH), a International Holding Company (IHC) Group entity, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to develop a USD 11.5 billion (around ₹1.08 lakh crore) integrated greenfield aluminium project in Odisha.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the India–Australia Roadmap for Sports Collaboration during his visit to Australia to strengthen long-term cooperation in coaching, sports science, athlete development, sports technology, major sporting events, and women in sports.
  • The Department of Posts (DoP) and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct India's largest-ever rural telecom network performance survey across 5.68 lakh villages.
  • India and New Zealand upgraded their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership by launching the India–New Zealand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2030 and signing 10 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to New Zealand.

  • State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest and oldest Public Sector Bank (PSB), acquired the National Housing Bank’s (NHB’s) 10% stake in RMBS Development Company Limited (RDCL).
  • TPG Inc., a global alternative asset management firm, signed definitive agreements to acquire a 100% stake in Aseem Infrastructure Finance Limited (AIFL) from the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and other shareholders for an undisclosed amount.
  • Aviva Plc (United Kingdom) announced the acquisition of the remaining 26% stake in Aviva Life Insurance Company India Limited (Aviva India) from its Joint Venture (JV) partner, Dabur Invest Corp. (DIC).
  • State Bank of India (SBI) sold a 42% stake in its asset management subsidiary SBI Funds Management Limited (SBIFM) through a pre-Initial Public Offering (IPO) placement, raising ₹1,655 crore.

  • The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM & WS), Pahalgam successfully conducted a 22-member mountaineering expedition to the Mt Khyam Tso Massif in the Rumtse Phu region, Ladakh.
  • Adani Defence and Aerospace, part of the Adani Group, invested ₹2,500 crore to establish South Asia’s largest private-sector missile ecosystem in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh (MP).
  • Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha.
  • Bisleri International Private Limited signed a Letter of Association (LoA) with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) (Kerala and Mahe) to promote plastic waste management and environmental sustainability across coastal regions.

  • Shapoor Zadran, former Afghanistan fast bowler and one of the pioneers of Afghanistan’s rise in international cricket, passed away at the age of 38 in New Delhi, Delhi.
  • Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed), passed away at the age of 99 in Washington, D.C., USA.
