• Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi undertook a two-day visit to Kyrgyzstan from 31 August to 1 September 2026, as the second leg of his two-country Central Asian tour, following Uzbekistan.
• The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the “Correct the Map” resolution with 164 votes in favour, promoting more accurate representation of the world’s geography.
• Bart De Wever, Prime Minister (PM) of Belgium, undertook a three-day official state visit to India from 2–4 September 2026 at the invitation of PM Narendra Modi, with the objective of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, defence, technology and connectivity.
• The 7th Meeting of the India-Japan Joint Working Group (JWG) on cooperation in the forestry sector was held in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on 8 September 2026.
• India, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I), joined the global 6G initiative called “Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security” along with the United States of America (USA) and 24 other countries.

• Miss World Organisation (MWO) crowned Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic as Miss World 2026 at the 73rd edition of the pageant held in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam.
• The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony will be held on 22 September 2026 at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, marking the first time in several decades that the ceremony will be held outside New Delhi.
• Karim Maredia, an Indian-American agricultural scientist and Associate Dean and Director of the World Agriculture Center at Michigan State University, has been selected for the 2026 Borlaug CAST Communication Award.

• The Ministry of Law and Justice (MoL&J) notified the appointment of 8 Judges of various High Courts as Chief Justices (CJs) of different High Courts across India.
• Adobe Inc. announced the appointment of Anil Chakravarthy as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 December 2026.
• Anil Chakravarthy will also join Adobe’s Board of Directors.
• Vinaya Prakash Singh, a 1988-batch Indian Postal Service officer, has been re-elected as Secretary-General of the Asian-Pacific Postal Union (APPU) for a second consecutive four-year term.
• Destry Damayanti became the first woman to lead Bank Indonesia, marking a historic milestone in Indonesia’s central banking system.
• President Droupadi Murmu appointed Dinesh Sharma, a BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, as the Lieutenant Governor (Lt Gov) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands (A&N) on 5 September 2026.

• Samtel Avionics Limited and Japan-based BULL Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding, to explore solutions for space debris mitigation.

• Adani Group is raising $1 billion (₹9,825 crore) by selling a 54% stake in Adani Airports Holdings Ltd (AAHL) to marquee investors.

• A group of scientists from the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) discovered a new plant species named “Osbeckia ulotricha” in the Shola grasslands of the Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve (BR) in the Western Ghats across Kerala and Tamil Nadu (TN).

• NCDEX (National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange) has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with the Cotton Association of India (CAI) to increase participation in cotton derivatives trading and strengthen price discovery and risk management in India’s cotton sector.
• The Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) is being built by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile’s Atacama Desert and is expected to become the world’s largest optical-infrared ground-based telescope, with operations expected around 2030.

• Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), launched the Operational Guidelines for DILRMP 3.0 during a hybrid event at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.

• The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved capital acquisition proposals worth approximately ₹1.10 lakh crore to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Indian Army (IA), Indian Navy (IN) and Indian Air Force (IAF).
