• Blue Energy Motors’ trucks will be Liquified Natural Gas-fuelled, long-haul, heavy-duty trucks.
• Blue Energy Motors has already signed an agreement with FPT Industrial, the global powertrain brand of Iveco Group.
• The market entry of the LNG-fuelled trucks will start with the introduction of the 5528 4x2 tractors as the first model.

PLFS: Unemployment Rate Decreases From 7.6% in April to June this Year

• According to the National Statistical Office (NSO), the unemployment rate for urban residents of India who are 15 years of age or older decreased from 12.6% in April to June of last year to 7.6% in April to June of this year.
• The country had substantial unemployment from April to June 2021, mostly as a result of the crippling effects of Covid-related regulations.
• The most recent figures, which highlighted a reduction in the unemployment rate together with an improvement in the labor force participation rate, hint at a prolonged economic recovery from the pandemic's aftereffects.

• Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki as the 29th district of Chhattisgarh.
• He is scheduled to inaugurate Sarangarh-Bilaigarh and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai as the 30th and 31st districts of Chhattisgarh
• To reduce the travel distance for the people to reach the headquarters, it has been carved out of Rajnandgaon district, by reducing 170 kilometers to 70 kilometers.
• There are three tehsils in the newly formed district – Ambagarh Chowki, Mohala, and Manpur and three development blocks and Janpad Panchayat – Ambagarh Chowki, Mohala, and Manpur.
• During the Launch, the map of the new district was inaugurated as well as development works projects worth Rs 160 crore were unveiled by CM Shri Bhupesh Baghel.

SEBI Restructures Panel On Cyber Security; Expands To 6 Members

• The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has restructured its high-level panel on cyber security that suggests measures to safeguard the capital markets from cyber attacks.
• The committee, which now has six members, will be chaired by Navin Kumar Singh, Director General at National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Center (NCIIPC).
• Earlier, the committee had only four members.

• The committee would provide recommendations for the strengthening of processes to audit cyber security and cyber resilience setups in the Indian securities market.
• It will engage in continuous dialogues with relevant external agencies, such as CERT-In, National Cyber Coordination Center (NCSC), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), & leading academic institutions and organizations, among others, to further strengthen cyber security and cyber resilience.

RBI launches pilot project to digitize Kisan Credit Card in MP, Tamil Nadu

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the pilot project for end-to-end digitalization of lending via Kisan Credit Cards (KCC).

Aim :

• To transform the rural credit delivery system.
• It is developed by the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) in association with the Rural Bank of India (RBI).
• The pilot will commence in September 2022 in select districts of Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu with Union Bank of India and Federal Bank,
• The project is being launched as a part of the initiative for the digitalization of Rural Finance in India.

Key Highlights :

• The pilot project would entail the automation of various processes within banks and the integration of their systems with the service providers.
• The proposed digitalization of the KCC lending process will make it more efficient, reduce costs for borrowers and reduce turnaround time (TAT)
• The TAT from loan application to disbursement has also been rather high, ranging from 2 to 4 weeks.
• At present, the process for getting such finance requires customers to visit a bank branch in-person along with proof of land ownership and other documents.

India's exports contracted by 1.15 percent to USD 33 billion in August:

• India's exports contracted by 1.15 percent to USD 33 billion in August, for the first time in over 20 months, while the trade deficit more than doubled to USD 28.68 billion due to increased crude oil imports.
• According to the preliminary data released by the commerce ministry, imports rose by 37 percent to USD 61.68 billion in August this year.
• The trade deficit in August 2021 stood at USD 11.71 billion.
• During April-August 2022-23, exports registered a growth of 17.12 percent to USD 192.59 billion.
• Imports during the five months of this fiscal grew by 45.64 percent to USD 317.81 billion.
• The trade deficit widened to USD 125.22 billion in April-August this fiscal as against USD 53.78 billion in the same period last year.

NPPA Launched Apps for Enhancing Ease of Business:

• During the celebration of the silver jubilee on August 29, 2022, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) unveiled the Pharma Sahi Daam 2.0 app and Pharmaceutical Database Management System 2.0.
• The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has always offered high-quality goods.
• During the opening ceremony, the Pharma Sahi Daam 2.0 app and Pharmaceutical Database Management System 2.0 were released.
• The Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System 2.0 (IPDMS) is a cloud-based application that is developed by NPPA with the technical support of the Centre for Advance Computing (C-DAC).

• Bharti Airtel has launched a pilot project in partnership with TP Northern Odisha Distribution to offer bill payment solutions to more than two million registered customers of the utility.
• The initiative will mobilize the 4,000 banking points of Airtel Payment Banks (APB) in north Odisha to facilitate bill payments.
• Customers of the joint venture between Tata Power and the Odisha government simply need to visit the store and provide their contact numbers and consumer numbers at the banking point.
• Airtel IQ is working on providing more simplified payment solutions.
• For example, it is currently developing UPI over IVR service where customers can make payments over a call.
• Once the customer decides to make the payment, we can pull the UPI id attached to the number and send a payment link through which the customer can make the payment.
• The project is at the National Payments Corporation of India certification stage.
• The certification ensures that the process has minimal risk of digital fraud.

KCCI signed an MoU with BSMES in Manama, Bahrain:

• The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Srinagar signed an MoU with Bahrain Small & Medium Enterprises Society (BSMES) in Manama, Bahrain.
• Focusing on MSME development the pact aims to create and deliver suitable services and programs for the member clients of the Bahrain SME Society and KCCI.
• Initially, Kashmir can offer medical packages to the citizens of Bahrain as Kashmir has one of the best doctors in the country, suggested the ACS.
• BSMES delegation can act as ambassadors of India in general and Kashmir in particular so that more and more people would visit J&K and added that the MoU signing is a step in that process.

IIT Madras is collaborating with MDA to offer a remediation program for children with dyslexia studying in Tamil medium:

• The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), IIT Madras, is collaborating with Madras Dyslexia Association (MDA) to offer a remediation program for children with dyslexia studying in Tamil medium.
• This program is being offered in online mode, completely free of charge through NPTEL.
• Dyslexia, a language-based processing difficulty, manifests itself as a difficulty in processing not just English but other languages as well; hence, MDA has designed and developed ‘Tamil Vazhi Payirchi’ to provide support to children studying in Tamil medium primary schools.
• MDA has designed and developed ‘Tamil Vazhi Payirchi’ - a complete package to address the remediation needs of such children.
• It includes a screening tool that can be administered in a Tamil medium primary class, a remedial kit, and a training program that equips the teachers with strategies they can impart to children with dyslexia.

International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics has developed an app named Gibsonify:

• For the first time, here are a nutrition app that targets vulnerable groups, developed by researchers at ICRISAT, the app Gibsonify, can help nutrition program planners, health professionals, nutritionists, and local health and nutrition functionaries to feed data from communities get a diet plan in realtime.
• A team of researchers from the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Centre for Global Equality, and the University of Cambridge developed the solution.
• It will be made available soon on digital devices for free.
• This app can help plan mid-day meals effectively and customize approaches according to locally available food items in different regions of India,” Padmaja, Cluster Leader (Knowledge and Capacity Building) at the Patancheru-based ICRISAT.
• ‘Gibsonify’ provides a user-friendly interface to collect information about local recipes and nutrient intake, replicating the tested 24-hour dietary recall methodology developed by Gibson and Ferguson 14 years ago.
• The app can benefit Anganwadi (childcare centers) and Accredited Social Health Activist (Asha) workers in conducting nutrition programs for pregnant and lactating women and children dependent on breastfeeding up to the age of two years.

• The Karnataka government has launched the ‘Puknyakoti Dattu Yojane’ to facilitate the adoption of cows from Goshalas.

Aim :

• To encourage adoption by the public to rear cattle in 'goshalas' (cow shelters).
• Under this initiative, Individuals may adopt cattle by paying rupees 11,000 per animal, for the year.
• However, anyone can also choose the length of time, which can be anywhere from 3 months to 5 years.

The President nominates Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud as an Executive Chairman of NALSA

• The President of India Shri Droupadi Murmu has nominated a second senior-most judge in the Supreme Court, Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud as the next executive chairperson of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
• The term of Mr. Justice Chandrachud to the post would last till November 8, 2022.
• He has replaced Shri Justice U.U. Lalit was elevated as the 49th Chief Justice of India.

• According to the Bar and Bench, after CJI Lalit's retirement, Justice Chandrachud will take over as the 50th Chief Justice of India in November 2022.

Indian Army contingent participates in Ex Vostok-2022 in Russia

• The Indian Army contingent of the Gorkha Regiment troops began the multilateral strategic and command Exercise Vostok - 2022 at the training grounds of the Eastern Military District of Russia which will take place Sep 01 to 07 2022.

Aim :

• Interaction and coordination amongst other participating military contingents and observers.
• The Indian Army contingent of troops from 7/8 Gorkha Rifles had arrived at the exercise location & will undertake joint manoeuvres to include joint field training exercises, combat discussions, and firepower exercises.

About Exercise Vostok - 2022 :

• The Vostok 2022 exercise will be held at 7 firing ranges in Russia's Far Eastern Federal District of Russia &  the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan.
• The 7-day drills have land, air, and sea components.
• The exercises will allow the armies of the participating countries to “practice defensive and offensive operations”.
• It involved 50,000 troops and more than 5,000 items of armaments & military hardware, in particular, 140 aircraft, 60 combat ships, gunboats, and support vessels.
