1) Of the 1500 residents of a village, 50% are boys of whom 30% are educated. If of all the residents, 40% are educated then what percent of the girls of the village are educated?
A) 20%
B) 50%
C) 75%
D) 30%
Answer: B) 50%
Solution:
Number of boys = 50% of 1500

= 750
Number of females = 1500 - 750
Number of educated = 40% of 1500
= 40/100 x 1500
= 600
Number of educated males = 30% of 750
= 30/100 x 750
= 225
Number of educated females = 600 - 225
= 375
Required Percentage = 375/750 x 100 = 50%

(12/100)x = 144
x = 1200
Passing mark = (20/100)*1200 + 60 = 300
