UPSSSC PET Negative Marking and Exam Duration
Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. Unattempted questions carry no marks and no penalty, so four wrong answers cancel one correct answer. UPSSSC PET Subject-Wise Weightage
The five 10-mark sections, Current Affairs, General Awareness, Hindi passage, graph and table interpretation, together carry 50 of the 100 marks. The remaining 50 marks are split equally across ten 5-mark subjects, so no single static subject decides the score.
UPSSSC PET Geography, History and General Awareness Syllabus
History and the National Movement together carry 10 marks and focus on ancient to modern India up to independence. Geography covers physical, political and population geography of India and the world. General Awareness is broader and tests static facts such as capitals, currencies, important days, institutions, books and awards.
UPSSSC PET 2026 Current Affairs Syllabus
Current Affairs carries 10 marks, the joint-highest for a single section, and gives special weight to Uttar Pradesh.

How to Prepare for UPSSSC PET 2026
With two exam dates left, focus on high-weightage sections and timed practice rather than new topics.
Subject-Wise Preparation Strategy
Plan revision around the marks distribution:
- Start with the 50-mark block: Current Affairs, General Awareness, the Hindi passage, graphs and tables.
- Practise one graph and one table set daily; they need basic arithmetic but take time.
- Revise the 5-mark subjects from Class 10 NCERT basics.
- In General Hindi, revise vilom, paryayvachi, sandhi and muhavare, which appear every year.
- Skip doubtful questions in the exam, since every four wrong answers cost one mark.
UPSSSC PET Previous Year Papers and Mock Tests
Solving UPSSSC PET previous year papers shows the question styles that repeat, especially in Hindi, reasoning and data interpretation. Candidates writing on 30 October or 1 November can also review the UPSSSC PET question paper to see this year's difficulty level. Take full mock tests in 2 hours on an OMR sheet to build timing and accuracy.

What Happens After UPSSSC PET 2026?
PET is an eligibility and shortlisting test, not a job, so it carries no salary of its own. After the result, UPSSSC issues a scorecard and uses PET scores to shortlist candidates for its Group B and C Mains recruitments, with the shortlisting score set by the UPSSSC PET cut off for each recruitment.
UPSSSC PET Score Validity
The UPSSSC PET score is valid for three years from the date the result is declared. During this period, candidates can apply for any UPSSSC recruitment that requires a PET score.
Jobs Available Through UPSSSC PET
PET-qualified candidates can apply for UPSSSC posts such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, VDO, Forest Guard and Junior Engineer, among others. Each post has its own qualification, selection process and pay level, which candidates can compare in the UPSSSC PET salary by post guide.
