  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the ₹16,660 crore all-cash acquisition of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd. (RCSPL), the owner of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchises in both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women's Premier League (WPL).
  • Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Group, the world's largest container shipping company, will acquire a 49% stake in Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt. Ltd. (AVPPL) for US$1.397 billion (around ₹13,220 crore), subject to regulatory approvals.
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the proposed combination involving the acquisition of seven Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) by Anantam Highways Trust (InvIT) and the issuance of InvIT units to Build India Infrastructure Fund (BIIF), Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL), and DBL Infraventures Pvt. Ltd. (DIPL).
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), approved two major acquisition proposals under the provisions of the Competition Act, 2002.
  • Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a 'Maharatna' Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), signed a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) to acquire a 40% equity stake in Tiki Tar and Shell India Private Limited (TTSIPL).

  • India ranked 125th out of 197 countries in the Global Passport Index (GPI) 2026, published by Global Citizen Solutions.
  • According to the S. News & World Report 2026 global rankings, the United States has been ranked as the world's most influential country, reflecting its India granted 125 new Geographical Indication (GI) registrations during Financial Year (FY) 2025–26, taking the total number of registered Geographical Indication (GI) products to 822.
  • Madhya Pradesh emerged as the top state with 26 new Geographical Indication (GI) registrations, followed by West Bengal (24) and Himachal Pradesh (13).

  • Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), inaugurated the 4th Animal Taxonomy Summit (ATS 4.0) in Kolkata, West Bengal.
  • Researchers from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI) discovered a new deep-sea fish species named Cyttopsis indica (Indian dory).
  • Astronomers discovered a hidden population of weakly active supermassive black holes in nearby galaxies using high-resolution radio observations, revealing black holes that were previously difficult to detect.
