- For non-metro areas, industry players recommend ₹21 per cash transaction and ₹7 for non-cash transactions.
- Current RBI rules allow 5 free ATM transactions per month in non-metro areas and 3 free transactions in metro cities (Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi).

- ₹2000 banknotes in circulation dropped from ₹3.56 lakh crore (May 19, 2023) to ₹6,577 crore (January 31, 2025)—98.15% returned.

- The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has given final approval for India’s first white tiger breeding centre, to be established in Govindgarh, Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh.
- This project is a landmark step in wildlife conservation, as Rewa holds historical significance for being home to the last known wild white tiger.

Union Budget 2025-26: ₹6.81 Lakh Crore Allocated for Defence Sector

- The tests were conducted against high-speed, low-altitude targetsmimicking low-flying drones with reduced thermal signatures.
- In all tests, the missiles intercepted and destroyedthe targets with pin-point accuracy.
- The trials were carried out in final deployment configuration, with two field operatorshandling weapon readiness, target acquisition, and missile firing.
- Data from range instruments like Telemetry, Electro-Optical Tracking System, and Radarconfirmed the missile system's capability to neutralize drones and other aerial threats.

- VSHORADSis a Man Portable Air Defence System designed and developed indigenously by Research Center Imarat in collaboration with other DRDO labs and industry partners.

- Sunita Williams, an Indian-origin astronaut, broke the record for the longest total spacewalking time by a woman, with 62 hours and 6 minutes.
- She surpassed Peggy Whitson's previous record of 60 hours and 21 minutes.
- Williams and Wilmore have been stranded on the ISS since June 2024 due to technical issues with Boeing's Starliner spacecraft, including helium leaks and thruster malfunctions.
- NASA plans to bring them back to Earth in late March 2025 using SpaceX's spacecraft.
- This was Williams' 9th spacewalk and Wilmore's 5th.
- Williams previously made history in 2012 by completing a triathlon in space.

- Chawla served as Election Commissioner (EC)from 2005 to 2009 and as CEC from April 2009 to July 2010.
- His tenure was controversial, with the BJP accusing him of partisan functioning.
- In 2009, then CEC Gopalaswami recommended his removal, but the government did not act on it.
- In 2006, LK Advani and 204 MPs petitioned then President APJ Abdul Kalam to remove Chawla, citing alleged bias.

- Born on July 30, 1945, Chawla studied at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, and Stephen's College, Delhi.
