The RBI Assistant Eligibility requirements are defined in terms of age limit, educational qualifications, nationality, experience, etc. This ensures that candidates possess the required qualifications and skills required for the job profile.
RBI Assistant Nationality
To meet the RBI Assistant Eligibility, candidates must be citizens of India. The RBI Assistant candidates have to provide documents like Aadhar cards, PAN cards, etc, as proof of nationality. As per the official notification, a candidate is required to be:
i. a citizen of India, or
ii. a subject of Nepal, or
iii. a subject of Bhutan, or
iv. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of
permanently settling in India, or
v. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) shall be a person in whose favour the Government of India has issued a certificate of eligibility. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination, but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate is issued to him/her by the Government of India.

RBI Assistant Age Limit 2026
The RBI Assistant age limit is between 20 and 28 years. The minimum age required to be eligible for the Assistant post is 20 years, while the maximum age limit is 28 years. This means that candidates born not earlier than 02/02/1998 and not later than 01/02/2006 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply.

RBI Assistant Educational Qualification
As per the RBI Assistant notification 2026 pdf, the educational qualification (as on 1-2-2026) is:

RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
As per the RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 notification, the selection process consists of three important stages:
1. Preliminary Examination
The Prelims exam is qualifying in nature. Candidates must clear the sectional and overall cut-off marks to move to the next stage. However, the marks secured in this phase will not be considered for the final merit list.
2. Main Examination
The Mains exam is the most crucial stage of the RBI Assistant selection process. Marks obtained in the Mains examination will be counted for the final selection. Therefore, candidates should aim to score well above the cut-off to improve their chances of securing a place in the final merit list.
3. Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
The Language Proficiency Test (LPT) is conducted to assess the candidate’s ability to read, write, and speak the local language of the respective state. The final selection will be based on performance in the Mains exam and qualification in the LPT. Candidates who fail to demonstrate proficiency in the local language will be disqualified.
