A cheque is a document you can issue to your bank, directing it to pay the specified sum of amount mentioned in digits as well as words to the person whose name is mentioned on the cheque.

Every cheque has a cheque number that is mentioned on the cheque leaf. The cheque number is used to find the status of a cheque. Only with the aid of the cheque number can the identity of the check be determined. The cheque number is the first six numbers that appear on the bottom of the check. If you want to write a cheque, you have to follow some points. They are, the first step is to cross a cheque, which means to draw two lines, which are parallel to each other, on the left hand corner of the document. Then write the date and write the name of the payee in the 'Pay' column. Proceed to write the amount in words and add 'only' in the end, at last sign at the bottom of the cheque carefully.
