He underwent 18 years of Gurukul training in wood sculpture at Gonal village under master craftsman Nadoja Naganna Monappa Badiger.

He received the National Award for Master Craftspersons 2024 for his contribution to traditional craftsmanship.

He was honoured with the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 2014 and the Karnataka Shilpakala Academy Honorary Award in 2012.
