- Baba Sivanand, a Padma Shri awardee and renowned yoga practitioner, passed away at the age of 128 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (UP).
About Baba Sivanand :
- Baba Sivanand was known for his disciplined lifestyle, which included yoga, meditation, and extreme austerity.
- He followed a strict routine of boiled food, early rising (3 am), and performing all his chores.
- Born on August 8, 1896, in Sylhet (now in Bangladesh), he faced early hardships, losing both parents at age six due to starvation.
- After the death of his parents, he was mentored by Omkarnand, who provided him with spiritual education and life teachings.
- In 2022, Baba Sivanand was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to society through yoga and spirituality.
