  • The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has appointed Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) Venture Capital Limited (SVCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), to manage a ₹1,000 crore venture capital fund aimed at supporting space technology startups in India.
  • The total fund size is ₹1,000 crore, distributed over five years, with ₹150 crore allocated for 2025-26, ₹250 crore annually for the next three years, and ₹100 crore for 2029-30.
  • Growth-stage startups are eligible for funding between ₹10 crore to ₹30 crore, while late-stage startups can receive between ₹30 crore to ₹60 crore.
  • The fund aims to support around 40 startups across the space supply chain, including upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors.
  • It is designed to help expand India's space economy fivefold over the next decade, targeting a $44 billion market by 2033.

  • North Korea has successfully test-fired its latest surface-to-air missile system, as reported by state media.
  • The test was conducted under the supervision of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who oversaw the launch and expressed satisfaction with its performance.
  • The missile system, recently put into full-scale production, was tested to evaluate its comprehensive performance, and North Korea claimed it demonstrated fast response capabilities and high reliability.

Justice Harish Tandon to take oath as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on March 26

  • The swearing-in-ceremony of Calcutta High Court Judge Justice Harish Tandon as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.
  • Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampatiwill administer the oath of the office to the Chief Justice-designate at the eastern side lawn (Old Building) of High Court of Orissa in Cuttack.
  • It is to be noted here that on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Harish Tandon as the new Orissa High Court Chief Justice, which remained vacant since January 19 after Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh retired from the Odisha High Court.

  • Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) launched Tavasya, the second frigate under Project 1135.6 Additional Follow-on Ships, marking a major step in India's naval self-reliance.
  • Tavasya is named after the legendary mace of Bhima from the Mahabharata and symbolizes the indomitable spirit and growing strength of the Indian Navy.
  • The Ministry of Defence signed the contract with GSL in January 2019 for two

  • The frigates are approximately 125 meters long, with a draught of 4.5 meters and a displacement of around 3,600 tons.
