Reserve Bank of India Extends Call Money Market Hours to 7 PM Starting July 1, 2025                           

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will extend market timings for the call money market by two hours, making the revised hours 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, effective July 1, 2025.
• The call money market is used exclusively by banks and standalone primary dealers for liquidity adjustment.
• The extension is based on the recommendations of the Working Group chaired by Radha Shyam Ratho, set up to review trading and settlement timings of RBI-regulated financial markets.
• The overnight money market, including uncollateralised and collateralised segments, is the most liquid segment in India’s financial markets.
• The market repo and Tri-Party Repo (TREP) trading hours will also be extended to 4:00 PM, starting August 1, 2025.

IRDAI Slaps ₹1 Crore Fine on Edelweiss Life for Breach of Corporate Governance Norms

• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has imposed a ₹1 crore penalty on Edelweiss Life Insurance Company for violation of corporate governance norms.

• The insurer has been directed to categorise certain transactions as outsourcing in line with IRDAI Regulations and report them to the Authority.
• IRDAI has mandated the company to:
• Implement an outsourcing policy that is Board-approved.
• Include provisions for periodic review in the policy.
• Establish a vendor management policy with clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cost allocations.

• The total contracts finalized amounted to ₹1,981.90 crore, close to the sanctioned amount of ₹2,000 crore for this procurement.
• This procurement underscores MoD’s commitment to providing the Army with modern, mission-critical, and indigenous systems to tackle emerging security challenges.
• The EP-6 route is a key enabler to bridge urgent capability gaps and ensure timely induction of vital operational equipment.
• As per reports, the MoD allocated ₹9,000 crore for revenue procurement by the Army through EP-6, focusing on capacity building and replenishing ammunition stocks depleted during Operation Sindoor.
• The ₹9,000 crore is approximately 15%-20% of the Army’s total revenue budget within the overall ₹6,81,210.27 crore Defence Budget for 2025-26.

• It was carried out on June 25, 2025, at the Shizunai Anti-Air Firing Range in Hokkaido, targeting an uncrewed boat located 40 km off the coast.
• Previously, missile tests were conducted in the United States and Australia due to space limitations and safety concerns.
• This test is part of Japan’s strategy to accelerate its military build-up and gain strike-back capabilities, mainly to deter China’s assertive naval presence.
