SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper PDF: Tier 1 and Tier 2 with Solutions

SSC CHSL previous year question papers are the best way to prepare for the CHSL 2026 Tier 1 exam, which is scheduled from 30 November to 31 December 2026. SSC released the CHSL 2026 notification on 7 September 2026 for about 2,536 vacancies, and the application window closed on 7 October 2026 (correction window: 14 to 16 October). With less than two months to Tier 1, solving real papers from recent cycles will show you the actual level, the topics SSC repeats and how to manage 100 questions in 60 minutes.

SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper PDF

The SSC CHSL previous year question paper is the set of questions asked in an earlier CHSL Tier 1 or Tier 2 exam, organised by date and shift. Tier 1 has 100 questions for 200 marks in 60 minutes: 25 questions each from English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness, with 0.50 mark deducted for each wrong answer. Here is a quick view of the exam dates of recent cycles, so you know which papers to pick.

SSC CHSL previous year question paper PDFs let you practise both tiers offline. Check the cycle, tier, date and shift of each paper before you start, attempt it in the real time limit, and only then check the solutions.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Previous Year Question Paper

SSC CHSL Tier 1 papers are the most useful PYQs, since Tier 1 is the screening stage and its pattern has not changed for years. That means even 2020 and 2021 Tier 1 papers are valid practice for 2026. Solve them in 60 minutes and aim to attempt at least 80 to 85 questions with high accuracy.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Previous Year Question Paper

SSC CHSL Tier 2 was changed from a descriptive paper to an objective CBT from the CHSL 2022 cycle. So only Tier 2 papers from 2022 onwards match the current pattern; the 2020 and 2021 Tier 2 papers were essay and letter writing and are not useful now. The current Tier 2 has two sections of 60 questions each (Maths and Reasoning; English and GA) for 360 marks, a qualifying Computer Knowledge module, and a skill or typing test, with 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer in Sections I and II.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 pattern in detail: SSC CHSL Syllabus and Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper with Solutions

A paper is only half useful without solutions. In Quant and Reasoning, the solution shows the shortest method; in English and GA, it confirms the rule or the fact. After every paper, go through each wrong and skipped question with its solution, and note the topic in an error log.

SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper Year-Wise

Solve SSC CHSL papers year-wise, starting with the most recent cycle and moving backwards. Here is what each year's papers are best used for.

SSC CHSL 2025 Previous Year Question Paper

The CHSL 2025 Tier 1 exam was held from 12 to 30 November 2025, and Tier 2 in April 2026. These are the closest papers to what you will face in CHSL 2026, especially for General Awareness, so solve them first, as full mock tests.

SSC CHSL 2024 Previous Year Question Paper

The CHSL 2024 Tier 1 exam was held from 1 to 11 July 2024, and Tier 2 on 18 November 2024. Use these papers after the 2025 set to see which Quant and Reasoning question types repeat across years.

SSC CHSL 2023 Previous Year Question Paper

The CHSL 2023 Tier 1 exam was held from 2 to 22 August 2023, and Tier 2 on 2 November 2023. These papers are good for topic practice in Quant, Reasoning and English. Skip their current affairs questions, since those events won't be asked again.

SSC CHSL 2022 Previous Year Question Paper

The CHSL 2022 Tier 1 exam was held in March 2023, and its Tier 2 (June 2023) was the first on the current objective pattern. That makes the 2022 Tier 2 paper the oldest one worth practising for the new Tier 2.

SSC CHSL 2021 Previous Year Question Paper

The CHSL 2021 Tier 1 exam was held from 24 May to 10 June 2022. Its Tier 1 papers are still useful practice, but its Tier 2 was a descriptive paper under the old pattern.

SSC CHSL 2020 Previous Year Question Paper

The CHSL 2020 Tier 1 exam was held in two phases in April and August 2021, due to COVID. Use these Tier 1 papers for extra Quant, Reasoning and English practice once you have finished the recent ones.

SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper Shift-Wise

SSC CHSL Tier 1 is held in three or four shifts a day over two to four weeks, and each shift gets a different paper. That is why papers are organised by date and shift. Solving papers from many shifts gives you a much wider question bank than any one paper. Don't read too much into one shift being easy or hard: SSC normalises scores across shifts.

SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper in Hindi and English

SSC CHSL papers are available in both Hindi and English. Tier 1 is bilingual for General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness, but the English Language section is in English only. If you are preparing in Hindi medium, practise the English section in English from the start, since it carries 50 marks in Tier 1.

SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper Subject-Wise

Subject-wise PYQs are the best way to revise a topic right after studying it. Here are the most frequently asked topics in each Tier 1 section, with free practice PDFs.

How to Download SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Paper PDF?

SSC does not publish full CHSL question papers for download. The only official copy is your own response sheet with questions, which you can see while the answer key window is open after each tier. Shift-wise papers collected from past exams are available on this page. To download them:

  • Choose the cycle: 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 or 2020.
  • Choose the tier (Tier 1 or Tier 2), then the exam date and shift.
  • Choose the language: English or Hindi.
  • Download the PDF and check that all four sections are complete.
  • Attempt it in the real time limit before you look at the solutions.

How to Solve SSC CHSL Previous Year Question Papers?

Treat every SSC CHSL previous year paper as a full mock test, not as a reading exercise. Follow these steps to get the most out of each paper:

  • Pick a complete paper, starting with the latest cycle.
  • Set a 60-minute timer for Tier 1 and attempt it without notes or breaks.
  • Do your strongest section first, and mark and skip any question that takes more than a minute.
  • Check your answers only after the full paper.
  • Sort your mistakes into concept gaps, calculation errors, misreading and time pressure.
  • Keep an error log of the topics where you go wrong repeatedly.
  • Revise those topics, re-attempt the wrong questions after a few days, then move to the next paper.

Benefits of Solving SSC CHSL Previous Year Papers

Solving SSC CHSL previous year papers helps you in ways that topic study alone can't:

  • Real exam level: you see the actual difficulty, not a coaching estimate.
  • Repeated topics: you find which question types SSC asks again and again.
  • Time management: you learn to split 60 minutes across four sections.
  • Negative marking control: with 0.50 mark lost per wrong answer in Tier 1, you learn when to skip.
  • Score check: comparing your score with past cut-offs shows how far you are from a safe score.
  • Exam temperament: regular timed practice reduces exam-day pressure.
