• Canada has introduced new digital safety legislation that could prohibit children below 16 years of age from having social media accounts unless companies can demonstrate that their platforms are safe for young users.

• Shisir Khanal, Foreign Minister of Nepal, paid a 3-day official visit to India from 5–7 June 2026 at the invitation of Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister of External Affairs (MEA).

• Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez, Acting President of Venezuela, paid a 5-day working visit to India from 3–7 June 2026 with a primary focus on strengthening India–Venezuela energy cooperation.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a monetary penalty of ₹41.80 lakh on Canara Bank on 5 June 2026.

• Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), the statutory regulator under the Ministry of Finance (MoF), launched the ‘StAR NPS’ platform to simplify and streamline the National Pension System (NPS) subscriber registration process.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducted the 61st and 2nd Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) Meeting of Financial Year 2026-27 (FY27) from 3–5 June 2026.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) plans to expand Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) pilot projects in FY27 by introducing new Domestic and Cross-Border Use Cases.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed a one-hour cooling-off period for digital transactions exceeding ₹10,000 to reduce online payment frauds.

• The volume of ₹500 denomination banknotes in circulation increased by 11.2% during FY26, rising from 6,34,458 lakh pieces in FY25 to 7,05,482 lakh pieces.

• Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman met Suvendu Adhikari in New Delhi to discuss measures for accelerating West Bengal’s development in line with the vision of Narendra Modi.

• The Ministry of Finance (MoF) introduced major reforms to increase Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) participation in Government Securities (G-Secs) and strengthen India's debt market.

• State Bank of India (SBI) Research released its latest “Ecowrap” Report, which projected India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for Financial Year 2025-26 (FY26) at 7.7%.

• Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) raised JPY 91.9 billion (approximately USD 625 million) through a Samurai Loan.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has identified Customer Protection and Strengthening the Credit Ecosystem as its two key regulatory priorities for FY27.

• India’s banking sector reported frauds worth ₹48,021 crore in FY26, registering a 46% increase over ₹32,694 crore in FY25, the highest fraud amount recorded in the last three years.

• An Reserve Bank of India (RBI) survey conducted among households and small retailers revealed that cash remains the preferred mode of payment in India despite the rapid growth of digital payment systems.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced two special USD-Rupee Forex Swap Facilities to attract foreign currency inflows and support external financing in India.

• The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private-sector investment arm of the World Bank Group, along with global investors, committed a total investment of approximately USD 105 million in Hygenco Green Energies Private Limited.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reported that its balance sheet expanded by 20.6% to ₹91.97 lakh crore as of 31 March 2026, compared to ₹76.25 lakh crore a year earlier.

• The Government of India has tightened silver import regulations by making a valid import authorisation from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) mandatory for specified import channels.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recognised Sahamati Foundation as the Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) for India’s Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem, creating a formal industry-led governance framework for the country’s consent-based financial data-sharing network.

• India and Nepal officially launched a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Cross-Border Remittance Mechanism on 6 June 2026.

• The Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0 was approved by the Union Cabinet on 05 May 2026 to provide additional credit support to businesses affected by the West Asia Crisis.

• The Government of India (GoI) has approved the extension of the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Microfinance Institutions (CGSMFI-2.0) until 31 August 2026 or until guarantees worth ₹20,000 Crore are issued, whichever is earlier.

• India recorded a Current Account Surplus (CAS) of US$ 7.1 Billion, equivalent to 0.7% of GDP, during the Fourth Quarter (Q4: January–March) of FY 2025-26.
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a Monetary Penalty of ₹3.90 Lakh on IIFL Samasta Finance Limited for violations of Know Your Customer (KYC) Directions and Fraud Risk Management in NBFCs Directions.
• Bank of India (BOI) inaugurated a dedicated Strategic Business Branch (SBB) at Nariman Point, Mumbai, Maharashtra to strengthen its Digital and Partnership-Led Financing Business.
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Survey of Professional Forecasters (SPF) projected India’s Real GDP Growth at 6.5% for FY 2026-27 (FY27).
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced Two Major Liquidity Management Measures: a US Dollar–Rupee Swap Facility for External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) and a Swap Window for Fresh Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) [FCNR(B)] Deposits.
• Sanjay Malhotra, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), stated that the proposal to introduce Polymer Banknotes in India is currently under consideration and is at a Preliminary Evaluation Stage.

• The Central Government has re-appointed Shri Swaminathan Janakiraman as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a period of two years.

• The President of India appointed Six Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court as Permanent Judges under the provisions of the Constitution of India.

• Kumar Shanker was appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) with effect from 5 June 2026.

• Banwarilal Purohit was unanimously elected President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on 7 June 2026 during a joint meeting of the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees.

• South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has nominated Han Seong-sook as the country’s next Prime Minister (PM), following reports that incumbent PM Kim Min-seok is stepping down from the position.

• The Government of India (GoI) has appointed Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth as the Next Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) with effect from the afternoon of 30 June 2026.
• The Central Government has nominated Sanjay Lohiya as a Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), with effect from 11 June 2026.

• Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Meta Platforms have announced a strategic partnership to develop an AI-enabled hyperscale data centre in Jamnagar.

• The Himachal Pradesh Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to promote climate-resilient, inclusive, and sustainable development across the state.

• Air India and Riyadh Air signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity between India, Saudi Arabia, and other global destinations.

• The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS) and the Government of Sikkim signed a reform-linked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen rural water supply infrastructure under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 (JJM 2.0).

• Roppen Transportation Services Private Limited, operating under the brand name Rapido has partnered with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to promote nationwide awareness and citizen participation in the Government of India’s Rahveer Scheme.

• Invest India and Invest UP signed a strategic partnership to attract higher Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and accelerate industrial development in Uttar Pradesh.

• Assam and Nagaland signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the joint exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas along their shared border.

• Oman India Joint Investment Fund II (OIJIF II), a private equity fund promoted by the sovereign wealth fund of the Sultanate of Oman and the State Bank of India (SBI), sold its 3.65% stake in Capital Small Finance Bank (SFB).

• The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of a certain shareholding in Shriram Life Insurance Company Limited by Sanlam Emerging Markets (Mauritius) Ltd. (SEMM).

• Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched India’s first passenger Flex-Fuel Vehicle (FFV), the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, in New Delhi.

• India has joined Project Glasswing, a global cybersecurity initiative led by Anthropic PBC to strengthen cyber resilience and protect critical digital infrastructure.

• CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), New Delhi signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Haryana for implementing the project titled “Implementation of the Standard Framework for Paving and Greening of Urban Roads (Haryana State)”.

• The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the Ministry of Science & Technology (MoS&T) observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 from 1 May to 15 May 2026.

• The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, has extended support to TIEA Connectors Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru for the project titled “Commercialization of Airborne Connectors for Aerospace, Defense & Charging Connectors for EV.”

• The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) officially ended the MAVEN mission after losing contact with the spacecraft on 6 December 2025, and concluded after nearly six months of radio silence that the orbiter could not be recovered.

• Scientists in June 2026 studied Uranus’ moon dynamics, ring structure, and planetary formation models to examine whether the early Solar System contained additional giant planets that were later ejected into interstellar space.

• An Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) delegation led by its President Brij Bhushan Aggarwal met Jitendra Singh in New Delhi.

• The Indian Air Force (IAF) has signed three contracts with Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Health Index System for the engines of Su-30MKI fighter aircraft undergoing mid-life maintenance.

• President Droupadi Murmu conferred 07 Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras, and 29 Shaurya Chakras during Phase-I of the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2026 held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on 8 June 2026.

• Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh approved the establishment of a 250 MW Solar Power Project with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Sitapur,Uttar Pradesh (UP).

• The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Mumbai of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) received information about a missile attack on the Palau-flagged tanker MT Marivex at approximately 1420 hours on 8 June 2026.

• The Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) of 217 Course will be held at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, Hyderabad on 13 June 2026, marking the successful completion of pre-commissioning training of Flight Cadets of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

• The Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Accord Software and Systems Private Limited (ASSPL), Bengaluru for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy.

• The Global Peace Index (GPI) 2026 was released by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), ranking 163 countries based on their levels of safety, security, ongoing conflict, and militarisation.

• India emerged as the champions of the Men’s Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 after defeating host nation Japan by 4-1 in the final held at Kakamigahara, Japan.

• Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap, former Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha, eminent Constitutional Expert, renowned Author, and noted scholar, passed away in New Delhi at the age of 97 following a prolonged illness.

• Veteran Malayalam actor and National Film Award winner Salim Kumar passed away at the age of 56 in Kochi.

• Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, popularly known as “Baba Dhaliwal”, passed away in Chandigarh at the age of 67.

• Veteran Tamil filmmaker, director, producer, screenwriter, and actor Bharathiraja passed away at the age of 85 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu (TN).
